The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide range of highly automated production equipment in an automotive manufacturing environment. This role focuses on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including 3-phase motors, conveyors, presses, robots, and ovens. The technician performs electrical and PLC troubleshooting, completes daily preventive maintenance, and responds to equipment breakdowns to keep production running safely and efficiently on a night shift schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic production equipment, including 3-phase motors, conveyors, presses, pumps, ovens, and related systems.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on 480V, 277V, 120V, and 24V DC systems to quickly identify and resolve faults.
  • Test and diagnose issues with 12V and 24V DC controls and 480V AC systems using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs and robotics, including systems using Fanuc and ABB robots, and interpret ladder logic when needed.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and blueprints to guide repairs and modifications.
  • Complete daily preventive maintenance (PM) tasks when not responding to equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Perform hydraulic and pneumatic repairs on production equipment to ensure proper operation and reliability.
  • Support general maintenance activities throughout the facility, including project work and equipment improvements.
  • Assist with welding (mig) and conduit bending for projects and equipment installations when required.
  • Work effectively within a highly automated, high-volume automotive environment where timely product output is critical.
  • Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment, including cut-proof, long sleeve jackets in designated areas.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and production staff to minimize downtime and maintain smooth operations on the night shift.
Essential Skills
  • 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred, ideally supported by an associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Entry-level candidates may be considered if they hold a relevant degree; candidates without a degree should have approximately 10 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong multi-skilled background in electrical (including 480V), mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting on 480V, 277V, 120V, and 24V DC systems.
  • Ability to test and diagnose 12V and 24V DC controls and 480V AC systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
  • Experience working with 3-phase motors, conveyors, presses, pumps, ovens, and other industrial production equipment.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills in industrial maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working in a highly automated setting with robotics and PLC-based systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on the night shift.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a hot environment while wearing required protective gear.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic knowledge are nice-to-have skills and will be considered a strong plus.
  • Experience troubleshooting robotics, especially Fanuc and ABB robots, is highly beneficial.
  • Welding (mig) skills are a plus for maintenance and project work.
  • Conduit bending experience is a plus for electrical installations and modifications.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes, particularly in a Tier 1 supplier environment, is advantageous.
  • Comfort working with automated material handling systems such as conveyors and robotic cells.
  • Ability to work a 2nd shift (6 PM – 6 AM) on a 2-2-3 schedule, including every other weekend.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production and maintenance teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality in all maintenance activities.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, highly automated automotive manufacturing facility that serves as a Tier 1 supplier of automotive sheet glass. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, where getting product out the door in a timely manner is critical and can be stressful at times. The facility is non-temperature-controlled and is very hot year-round, though it is clean and well-lit. Many areas require cut-proof, long sleeve jackets as part of the dress code and personal protective equipment. Technicians work with advanced automation technologies, including Fanuc and ABB robots, conveyors, pumps, presses, and ovens, often in hot zones. The position is on the night shift (2nd shift, 6 PM – 6 AM) following a 2-2-3 schedule with every other weekend worked, providing a structured and predictable work pattern.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of VERSAILLES, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr.
