Job Description

The Mechanical Assembler completes the assembly of various machine models by following established procedures, using a range of hand, power, and pneumatic tools. This role involves moving equipment as needed, verifying that finished machines meet quality standards and documentation requirements, and supporting the production team with additional tasks to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.

Responsibilities

  • Complete mechanical assembly of various machine models in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, and drawings.
  • Use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, and ratchets to assemble and secure components.
  • Operate power tools including drills and impact drivers, as well as pneumatic and air tools, to perform assembly tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Accurately read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and other technical documentation to ensure correct assembly.
  • Measure parts and assemblies using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools to verify dimensions and fit.
  • Move machines and components within the facility as required, including using manual and electric pallet jacks.
  • Verify that completed machines meet quality standards and match initial paperwork, documenting and communicating any discrepancies.
  • Operate small air, hand, and electric tools in a safe and controlled manner, following all safety guidelines.
  • Work within assembly pods or cells of 3–4 team members to assemble specific machines, contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Participate in cross-training across multiple assembly pods and areas to maintain versatility and support production needs.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area, following facility guidelines and contributing to a well-ordered production environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding progress, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and safe tool operation, to minimize risk of injury.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations and overall team success.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and turn repeatedly for the duration of the workday.
  • At least 6 months of previous working experience in any environment.
  • Preferably 6 months of prior assembly or manufacturing experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools, power tools, and small air and electric tools.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, drawings, and basic blueprints.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.
  • Effective communication skills to work with team members and share information clearly.
  • Good memorization skills to retain procedures, steps, and product-specific requirements.
  • Demonstrated good work history, even if not in manufacturing, showing reliability and consistency.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Familiarity with assembly pods or cell-based assembly processes.
  • Comfort working in a physically active role in a non-climate-controlled facility.
  • Ability to adapt to cross-training and learn multiple assembly processes and product lines.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and willingness to collaborate in small groups.
  • Attention to detail in quality checks and documentation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Anoka, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
