Plant Controller
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Plant Controller to join the leadership team at our manufacturing facility in Harper Woods, Michigan. In this role, you will serve as a strategic finance partner to plant leadership, providing insight that supports operational performance, cost control, and sound business decisions. The position is well suited for someone who is comfortable balancing hands-on financial oversight with active involvement in day-to-day plant activity. You will also help strengthen financial discipline across the operation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the plant’s financial activities, ensuring accurate oversight of operational results and reinforcing accountability across the local leadership team.
• Develop annual operating budgets and recurring forecasts, then evaluate performance against actual results to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Produce and review daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for plant, senior, and executive leadership audiences.
• Maintain key performance dashboards and contribute financial insight during management review meetings and operational discussions.
• Provide support across core transactional areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and purchasing processes.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop finance or administrative team members to build capability and support strong performance.
• Partner with materials and operations teams to monitor inventory accuracy, support cycle counts, and assist with physical inventory activities.
• Assess the financial impact of engineering or production changes, support continuous improvement initiatives, and review plant spending to promote responsible cost management.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.• At least 5 years of accounting or finance experience, including work in a manufacturing environment; automotive industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience serving as a Plant Controller within a manufacturing operation.
• Strong knowledge of standard cost accounting, general ledger activity, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, variance analysis, annual reporting, inventory accounting, and inventory analysis.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively with cross-functional partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with business intelligence or enterprise resource planning systems.
