Job Description
This role is a direct-hire Electrician position in a manufacturing environment, responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, machinery, and related equipment. The Electrician works on a variety of industrial electrical and mechanical tasks, including troubleshooting complex systems, supporting production operations, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Repair a wide range of tools and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Inspect equipment regularly, diagnose trouble or malfunctions, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Analyze equipment failures, identify root causes, and make necessary adjustments to prevent recurrence.
- Install power, lighting, and control circuits as well as electrical conduit throughout the facility.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, and layouts to plan and execute electrical and mechanical installations.
- Select appropriate materials, components, and operating equipment needed to complete assigned work efficiently.
- Repair, maintain, and install minor and major electrical systems, fixtures, and related infrastructure.
- Measure, cut, bond, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduits with precision and adherence to safety standards.
- Work proficiently with sensors, circuit boards, relays, limit switches, flow switches, motors, PLCs, digital drives, and related control components.
- Install, troubleshoot, and program PLCs, AC drives, and DC drives to support automated and semi-automated equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and ensure accurate installations.
- Dismantle machines using appropriate hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, and crowbars when maintenance or relocation is required.
- Move machinery and equipment safely using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails using hand tools and power tools.
- Construct foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.
- Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs to meet precise specifications.
- Assemble machines and secure them to foundations or structures by bolting, welding, riveting, or otherwise fastening using hand and power tools.
- Operate an engine lathe, when necessary, to grind, file, and turn machine parts to required dimensional specifications.
- Repair and lubricate machines and equipment as needed to maintain optimal performance.
- Install robots and modify their programs using a teach pendant when required to support automation projects.
- Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trades, collaborating effectively with other maintenance personnel.
- Participate actively in the training and development of other maintenance staff, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Produce new and replacement parts, with or without blueprints, to maintain or improve plant operations in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement ideas from plant operations personnel aimed at reducing product costs, improving product quality, reducing setup times, and increasing run rates on production equipment.
- Investigate causes of equipment breakdowns and report findings to the maintenance supervisor, including recommendations for corrective actions.
- Make recommendations that improve the maintenance processes and enhance the reliable performance of equipment.
- Comply with all safety measures for Arc Flash and adhere to all plant safety rules and procedures.
- Complete and obtain all required OSHA training and certifications in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Work the second shift schedule (1:45 p.m. to 12:45 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with Friday work as needed), with initial training provided on first shift.
Essential Skills
- Journeyman Electrician card or at least 5 years of electrical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong experience installing and working with electrical conduit, including measuring, cutting, threading, and bending.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs and industrial control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematic drawings accurately.
- Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems, including 480V power distribution.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and experience working with machinery, conveyors, and related equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues on production equipment and plant systems.
- Familiarity with Arc Flash safety practices and willingness to adhere strictly to safety protocols.
- Capability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and support production operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with sensors, circuit boards, relays, limit switches, and flow switches in industrial applications.
- Background in troubleshooting and maintaining motors, digital drives, AC drives, and DC drives.
- Experience installing, programming, and modifying PLCs and robotic systems using a teach pendant.
- Ability to operate an engine lathe and other shop equipment to fabricate or modify machine parts.
- Experience aligning and assembling machinery using precision tools such as micrometers, squares, rules, and plumb bobs.
- Comfort working as part of a multi-disciplinary maintenance team and supporting training of other personnel.
- OSHA-required training and certifications, or the ability to obtain them within company guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions that improve equipment reliability, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment that is not temperature controlled, so working conditions will vary with the seasons. You will work around industrial machinery, electrical systems, and automation equipment, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, hoists, dollies, and precision measuring instruments. The role follows a second shift schedule from 1:45 p.m. to 12:45 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with work on Fridays as needed, and initial training will take place on first shift. Appropriate work attire is required for a manufacturing and maintenance setting, including adherence to all safety gear and protective equipment requirements.
