Job Description

This role involves hands-on operation and oversight of manufacturing processes in a large, clean, and temperature-controlled production environment. You will learn and support all floor operations, help coordinate work priorities, and contribute to continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency. The position is ideal for candidates with a manufacturing or trades background who are comfortable using measuring tools and working with decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform all floor operations and production processes in a hands-on capacity.
  • Backfill on the production floor as needed to support staffing and operational requirements.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training new team members as required.
  • Support the determination of pay rate settings and pay increases in alignment with company guidelines.
  • Work closely with Operations to prioritize work orders and ensure on-time completion.
  • Record labor hours accurately in company software and maintain up-to-date production records.
  • Review and approve time-off requests to avoid conflicts with production schedules.
  • Maintain strong housekeeping standards and support line clearance activities, applying 5S principles where possible.
  • Manage or support management of the KANBAN system to ensure adherence to established procedures.
  • Utilize QAD or similar systems to create scrap and efficiency reports for management review.
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO) as needed to adjust operational run times, setups, and related parameters.
  • Determine and refine work techniques to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Adhere to and enforce safety guidelines, company policies, and attendance standards.
  • Lead by example in all aspects of performance, safety, and conduct.
  • Apply objective evidence when supporting or participating in disciplinary processes.
  • Address and help resolve workplace conflicts in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Be willing and able to work overtime when production needs arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing, machine operation, or a trades-related role.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to work with decimals and interpret measurement readings accurately.
  • Hands-on experience with machine operation and general production tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with assembly or medical assembly in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with inspection processes, including visual inspection and use of microscopes.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical understanding for troubleshooting and servicing equipment.
  • Comfort working with hand tools and operating various types of machinery.
  • Ability to use or learn company software for recording labor hours and generating reports.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required to meet production demands.
  • Capability to follow and enforce safety guidelines and company policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a cleanroom or medical device manufacturing environment.
  • background in medical, medical device, or aerospace-related production.
  • Exposure to 5S, line clearance, and other lean manufacturing practices.
  • Experience managing or working within a KANBAN inventory system.
  • Familiarity with QAD or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience creating or interpreting scrap and efficiency reports.
  • Comfort with processing Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and adjusting operational parameters.
  • Prior involvement in interviewing, hiring, and training production staff.
  • Experience handling conflict resolution and participating in disciplinary processes using objective evidence.

Work Environment

You will work in a large manufacturing facility with more than 250 colleagues on site, surrounded by a wide range of equipment and machinery. The environment is clean, safe, and temperature-controlled, with many moving parts and active production lines. The company operates as a global market and technology leader in nitinol, providing nitinol melting and materials, a full range of fabrication and finishing services, and engineer-to-engineer support from prototyping through production. Much of the equipment and output supports the medical industry, including products used as implants, as well as applications in aerospace. The setting emphasizes organized workflows, strong housekeeping, and adherence to safety and operational procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethel, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.40/hr.
