The position is hands-on, physically demanding, and primarily outdoors, with significant opportunity for skill development and long-term progression.

  • Assist with the installation of waterproof liners and ensure proper layout and coverage across commercial flat surfaces.
  • Hook up necessary components and systems associated with the waterproofing and surfacing process as directed.

  • Handle and place rock or abrasive stabilizing materials on roof surfaces according to project specifications.
  • Use tape measures, hand tools, and cutting tools accurately and safely to complete assigned tasks.
  • Work effectively in outdoor environments, including hot, cold, windy, and sunny conditions, while maintaining safety standards.

  • Strong attention to detail when measuring, cutting, and fitting materials.
  • Reliability and punctuality in getting to the main shop or designated meeting point before traveling to job sites.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a crew on commercial projects.
  • Interest in developing skills in commercial flat roofing and surfacing with potential for long-term progression.
Why Work Here?

You join a stable, tight-knit crew where employees tend to stay for years, reflecting a supportive culture and strong sense of teamwork. There is clear opportunity for progression based on performance, with high performers able to grow their skills and earning potential over time. Transportation to job sites is provided via ride-alongs, reducing the need to use your personal vehicle for long-distance travel. The work offers variety, travel, and the chance to build a valuable trade skill set in commercial construction.

Work Environment

The work takes place primarily outdoors on commercial flat roofs in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and sun. Projects are conducted on commercial buildings, typically accessed from inside the building via maintenance stairs, with outer roof edges roped off to reduce exposure to open heights. Man-lifts are used when needed to access certain areas. The role involves physical labor, frequent lifting, and working with insulation, rock, and other surfacing materials. Work hours follow typical construction schedules, and a significant portion of the year involves overnight travel to job sites, with crew members riding together to and from locations rather than driving individually.
