Job Description

The Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment used in production operations. This role performs general plant maintenance, including heating system care, sheet metal and roofing repairs, sprinkler maintenance and testing, and routine lubrication of machinery. The technician works with some supervision while ensuring equipment reliability and safe, efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment used in production processes.
  • Perform general plant maintenance tasks that require a solid understanding of facility and equipment upkeep.
  • Carry out heating system maintenance and ensure proper care and operation of heating systems.
  • Complete sheet metal and roofing repairs to maintain facility integrity and safety.
  • Conduct sprinkler system maintenance and testing to support safety and compliance requirements.
  • Grease and oil machinery on a regular schedule to ensure smooth operation and reduce equipment wear.
  • Use hand tools and appropriate equipment to perform repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs.
  • Read and interpret schematics and diagrams to support equipment installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Work under some supervision while following established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety policies and practices in a metal manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical production equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to work with hydraulics, valves, and pneumatics.
  • Proficiency using hand tools for repair, assembly, and maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on production machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams.
  • Experience with welding for equipment repair and fabrication tasks.
  • Knowledge of heating system maintenance and basic facility repair work.
  • Capability to perform sheet metal and roofing repairs.
  • Experience with sprinkler system maintenance and testing.
  • Ability to work with some supervision while following established procedures and safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Metal manufacturing or similar industrial production environment.
  • Comfort working on a variety of equipment types and systems within a plant setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in diagnosing and repairing equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate with maintenance and production teams to support operational goals.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
