This role focuses on first-shift welding, primarily using TIG on filler material with some MIG work, while also supporting general fabrication tasks. The position suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, has strong mechanical aptitude, and is comfortable performing physical, manual labor in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform TIG welding on filler material with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
  • Conduct MIG welding as needed to support production and fabrication requirements.
  • Assist with fabrication responsibilities, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and basic drawings to complete welding and fabrication tasks accurately.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for grinding, metal finishing, and polishing.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and positioning parts according to specifications.
  • Inspect welds and finished components for quality, making adjustments or repairs as required.
  • Handle and move materials, including lifting items weighing approximately 45–50 lbs, in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Arrive on time, follow scheduled hours, and demonstrate a strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Collaborate with team members and support other manual labor tasks as needed in the manufacturing area.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in TIG welding on filler material in a production or fabrication setting.
  • Experience with MIG welding for metal fabrication tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints or technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical systems and components.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry 45–50 lbs as part of daily duties.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination for precise welding and finishing work.
  • Experience using hand and power tools commonly used in welding and fabrication.
  • Capability to perform grinding, metal finishing, and polishing tasks.
  • Reliable punctuality and a strong work ethic, with a willingness to perform manual labor.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday on a first-shift schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
  • Experience with metal grinding and polishing to achieve desired finishes.
  • Comfort working with various metals and materials used in fabrication.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and cross-train in additional fabrication processes.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Work Environment

The role requires frequent use of welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools such as grinders and polishers. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, proper handling of equipment, and maintaining an organized work area. Appropriate work attire suitable for a welding and fabrication shop, including protective gear, is expected.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kenosha, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.
