Job Description
The Golf Course Laborer is an entry-level to semi-skilled position responsible for performing routine manual labor and maintenance tasks to keep the golf course, grounds, and related facilities in excellent playing condition and aesthetically pleasing. This is a great opportunity to enter the golf industry and learn a skilled trade with our seasoned agronomist (turfgrass management).
Responsibilities
- Mow greens, tees, fairways, aprons, and roughs to specified heights using walk-behind or riding mowers.
- Maintain sand bunkers by raking, edging, and ensuring proper sand depth and drainage.
- Perform daily course setup: change hole cups and pins, move tee markers, fill ball washers, clean water coolers, and replace towels/flags as needed.
- Operate hand tools and powered equipment such as string trimmers, edgers, blowers, rakes, shovels, and utility vehicles.
- Assist with irrigation tasks, including hand-watering, checking sprinkler heads, and basic repairs under supervision.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required for operating utility vehicles and light equipment).
- Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or golf course maintenance is preferred but not always required; willingness to learn is essential.
- Basic knowledge of turf care, landscaping, or use of grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate mowers, trimmers, blowers, and utility carts safely.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high aesthetic and playing standards.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Availability for early mornings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and work in all weather conditions.
