Job Description

The Medical Assistant in Pain Management plays a vital role in supporting both clinical and administrative functions within a busy pain management clinic. This position involves frequent patient interaction, assisting physicians and nurses with various procedures, managing patient records using electronic health systems, and ensuring an efficient patient flow. The Medical Assistant reports to the Clinic Manager and works collaboratively within a medium-sized team to provide comprehensive care and support.

Responsibilities

  • Measure vital signs and perform patient screenings according to provider guidelines
  • Support physicians and nurses during clinical procedures
  • Maintain infection control by sterilizing instruments and cleaning exam rooms
  • Manage and update patient records using electronic health records (EHR)
  • Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and handle referral documentation
  • Provide patient instructions regarding home care and post-procedure guidance
  • Follow OSHA guidelines and adhere to scope of practice in laboratory procedures and specimen handling

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in medical assisting
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Strong patient care and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities
