Job Description

The Medical Front Office Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient operations at the front desk of a medical practice. This position involves managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, handling cash transactions, and maintaining confidentiality. The receptionist works closely with both administrative and clinical teams daily, supporting patient flow and communication within a small front office setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiline telephone system to answer and forward calls warmly and accurately
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using computerized systems
  • Greet patients, check them in, and assist with check-out processes
  • Collect copays and outstanding balances, tally daily cash and credit payments
  • Take and deliver messages according to office policies
  • Assist with medical record requests and maintain confidentiality of all records
  • Provide callers with information including office location and directions
  • Verify insurance eligibility as part of patient intake procedures
  • Collaborate daily with back office staff to facilitate patient flow

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in medical front office or administrative support

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with multiline telephone operation
  • Appointment scheduling expertise
  • Cash handling proficiency
  • Patient check-in and check-out experience
  • Medical records management knowledge
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Typing and writing skills
  • Commitment to confidentiality compliance
