Healthconnect Texas is actively seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the organization's day-to-day accounting operations while partnering closely with the Chief Financial Officer on financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and strategic initiatives. This role is responsible for managing the monthly close process, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, preparing accurate financial statements, and identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiencies.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this position offers exceptional exposure to executive leadership and provides a defined path toward future Controller responsibilities. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys improving processes while remaining engaged in the day-to-day accounting function.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Reporting

2. Oversee the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance of the general ledger.

3. Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analyses for CFO review while ensuring compliance with GAAP.

4. Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records, account classifications, and revenue recognition.

Financial Operations & Compliance

1. Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities.

2. Coordinate annual audits, Form 990 preparation, grant reporting, and other regulatory requirements.

3. Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting processes to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Process Improvement & Leadership

1. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows, automate processes, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance Department.

2. Provide day-to-day guidance and support to junior accounting staff while fostering accountability and professional growth.

3. Partner with the CFO on strategic initiatives, financial analysis, and continuous improvement projects that support organizational growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA certification or CPA eligibility and three or more years of progressive accounting experience. The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, non-profit accounting, grant reporting, audit support and compliance, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial analysis, along with exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Houston, TX candidates or those willing to relocate will be considered. This is a hybrid position.
