Location: Torrance, CA
Salary: $70,000–$80,000 annually
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Branch Manager & Corporate Headquarters
Supervises: 1–2 Staff Members


Overview


We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Specialist to manage full-cycle accounting operations for a growing organization in Torrance, CA. This is a hands-on accounting position responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and audit preparation.

The Senior Accounting Specialist will independently manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities while also providing guidance and oversight to 1–2 junior staff members. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, a strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls, and the ability to take accounting operations from daily transactions through financial statement and audit preparation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional ready to take ownership of accounting operations while serving as a key resource to management and junior accounting staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions.
  • Prepare customer statements, review aging reports, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts, journal entries, cash books, and account reconciliations.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and prepare weekly cash reports.
  • Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and account variances.
  • Review accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established accounting procedures.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including depreciation schedules, additions, and disposals.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for financial audits.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants during audit and tax preparation.
  • Assist with tax-related reporting, documentation, and information requests.
  • Communicate with banks and foreign exchange providers regarding banking and financial matters.
  • Process and review employee expense reports and sales commission reports as needed.
  • Identify discrepancies, investigate accounting issues, and implement appropriate corrections.
  • Train, delegate assignments to, and provide ongoing guidance to 1–2 junior accounting staff members.
  • Support management with financial information, reporting, and other accounting-related requests.
  • Assist with general administrative and operational responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements


  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations.
  • Experience completing month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and management reports.
  • Previous experience supporting financial audits and audit preparation.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and accounting priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience supervising, training, or mentoring accounting staff is preferred.


Preferred Qualifications


Candidates with experience serving as a Senior Accountant, Senior Accounting Specialist, Full-Charge Bookkeeper, Accounting Supervisor, Staff Accountant, or similar hands-on accounting professional are encouraged to apply.

Experience independently handling accounting responsibilities through month-end close, year-end close, financial reporting, and external audit preparation is highly desirable.
