Control System Integrator / PLC Programmer
Job Description
Role Description
We're hiring an experienced Control Systems Engineer / PLC Programmer to join our team. In this hands-on role, you'll design, program, commission and provide support for advanced control systems for our industrial clients. You'll take projects from functional specifications all the way to successful completion - going well beyond basic PLC programming to deliver complete, reliable solutions. The position is ideal for a self-starter and problem solver who enjoys staying current with automation technology. While we are based in the Kansas City area, projects take us nationwide
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and deliver tailored, high-performance control solutions.
- Design, develop, and implement control system architectures.
- Program PLCs (primarily Allen-Bradley Studio 5000/ControlLogix), HMIs, and SCADA systems.
- Perform system integration, testing, commissioning, and startup at client sites.
- Create and maintain technical documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation equipment, networks, and communications.
- Provide ongoing technical support and training to clients and internal teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in controls system integration, preferably with a systems integrator.
- Strong proficiency with Rockwell Automation platforms (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, etc.). Experience with others is a plus.
- Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms (Ignition, AVEVA System Platform, AVEVA Plant SCADA, FTView, etc.).
- Solid understanding of industrial networks, protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.), instrumentation, and electrical design standards.
- Background in industrial automation, controls engineering, or related field.
- Relevant technical degree or equivalent practical experience in electrical, controls, or systems engineering.
- Comfort working on-site in industrial environments.
- Willingness to travel to client sites (typically 30-50%).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation: Base salary typically $90K-$140K for candidates with 3 years of relevant experience, plus a full benefits package commensurate with skills and experience.
- Professional growth: Exposure to a wide range of industries, platforms and challenging projects.
- Non-corporate, people-first culture: A supportive, low-bureaucracy environment where you will be empowered to innovate and grow as a professional without the red tape typical of larger firms.
- Healthy work-life balance: We respect your time outside of work and promote the philosophy that you work to live, not live to work.
