Commercial Lines Account Manager

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our growing team. This role is responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of small to mid-sized commercial insurance accounts while delivering exceptional customer service and building long-term client relationships. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced agency environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a book of small to mid-sized commercial insurance accounts, ensuring exceptional service throughout the client lifecycle.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries, policy changes, cancellations, and coverage requests while meeting established service standards.
  • Process new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, binders, certificates of insurance, invoices, and other policy documentation in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver Evidence of Insurance requests and Certificates of Insurance accurately and efficiently.
  • Generate insurance quotes and collaborate with producers to deliver competitive coverage solutions.
  • Review and process customer policy change requests while ensuring underwriting and carrier guidelines are met.
  • Obtain and track all required trailing documents and outstanding client information.
  • Document all client interactions and account activity accurately within the agency management system.
  • Verify and update client contact information during every customer interaction.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming claims, providing guidance and coordinating follow-up as needed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of carrier underwriting guidelines, rating procedures, compliance requirements, and available products.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell additional insurance and financial products that meet clients' needs.
  • Promote the agency's referral program by requesting referrals during client interactions.
  • Stay current on industry trends, carrier updates, and new insurance products through ongoing education and training.
  • Share knowledge, best practices, and technical expertise with team members to support a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Active Michigan Property and Casualty License required
  • Minimum of 3 years of Commercial Lines Account Management experience servicing a small to mid-sized book of business with account premiums ranging from $2,500 to $50,000
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages, underwriting principles, and agency workflows
  • Knowledge of insurance rating platforms and carrier portals
  • Experience with multi-state Workers' Compensation policies and class code assignments a plus
  • Familiarity with Surplus Lines placements and Lloyd’s insurance market preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with agency management systems, preferably Applied Epic or AMS360
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service focus
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach and a strong sense of urgency
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn, adapt, and receive coaching
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a collaborative team member
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
