About the Role:
We are seeking a Maintenance Director to oversee the maintenance operations for one nursing home facility only. This is not a corporate or multi-site role—this is an on-site, hands-on position where you'll not only lead the department but also work alongside the team to ensure the building and equipment are in top shape for the safety and comfort of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the maintenance team while actively participating in day-to-day repair and upkeep
- Plan and prioritize maintenance projects across the facility, including assigning daily tasks
- Perform regular facility inspections and address issues proactively
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repairs in a timely manner
- Maintain systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, call bell, and lighting
- Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulatory standards
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and equipment servicing schedules
- Maintain accurate documentation of work orders, inspections, and repairs
- Support fire drills, emergency preparedness, and life safety systems
- Manage departmental budget, supplies, and vendor relationships
- Provide training, coaching, and oversight for maintenance staff
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a maintenance role, ideally in a supervisory or leadership capacity
- Long-Term Care or healthcare facility maintenance experience preferred
- Strong understanding of building systems, including high and low voltage, plumbing, and HVAC
- Comfortable working hands-on and leading by example
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining safety and quality standards
- Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills
- Self-starter who can work independently and solve problems on the fly
- Professional demeanor and compassion for serving elderly and disabled residents
