Position: Programs Support Assistant

Location: Riverhead, NY

Salary: $45,000 per year (Nonexempt position)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Monday – Friday

Position Summary:

The Association for Mental Health and Wellness is seeking a highly organized, professional, and personable individual to serve as the first point of contact for our Riverhead location. This role is essential in creating a welcoming, supportive, and recovery-focused environment for members, visitors, and staff, while ensuring smooth and efficient front desk and administrative operations.

The Programs Support Assistant supports daily program operations by managing reception responsibilities, assisting with transportation logistics, and providing administrative support to the team. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced behavioral health setting.

This position is based onsite and involves frequent interaction with members, staff, and visitors throughout the day.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet members and visitors in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner
  • Oversee front desk and reception area protocols, including member and visitor sign-in procedures
  • Maintain organized and efficient front desk operations
  • Manage incoming/outgoing mail and deliveries; notify staff upon receipt of packages
  • Maintain and coordinate schedules for conference room and training rooms
  • Manage transportation scheduling and maintain accurate documentation for members
  • Provide administrative and clerical support
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with agency policies and procedures
  • Assist as needed with tasks for our Food Pantry including bagging food, distributing emergency food bags, etc.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
  • Prior experience in a receptionist, administrative, or customer service role preferred
  • Experience in behavioral health or human services a plus
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office systems
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
