Role Summary

Secondary Machine Operator, Trainee supports manufacturing operations—perform equipment setup, maintenance, quality inspections, and process improvements while guiding team members. 1+ years' experience, forklift certification preferred.

Job Details
  • Position Type: Full-Time/Hourly (Non-Exempt)

  • Shift: Multiple Shifts (First: 7am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, Second: 3pm - 11pm, Monday to Friday)

  • Work Location: Onsite - Farmington Hills, MI 48335

  • Salary range: $18.00+, based on experience and qualifications

  • Shift Differentials: +$1.00/hr for 2nd shift and +$1.25/hr for 3rd shift

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Setup and Maintenance: Perform moderately complex tasks related to set-up, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure machinery runs efficiently

  • Machinery Operation: Assist in operating machinery in the designated department as needed to meet production demands

  • Quality Inspection: Inspect materials, final products, and machinery for defects to ensure quality standards are met

  • Process Improvement: Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity

  • Production Oversight: Ensure that department output meets organizational expectations and production targets

  • Team Guidance: Guide the manufacturing/operations team in interpreting existing processes and policies and assist in developing efficiencies or process improvements

  • Documentation: Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately, maintaining proper records

  • 5S Standards: Adhere to 5S standards, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area

  • Compliance: Follow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment

  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management

Experience and Education
  • Supervision: Perform work under minimal supervision, demonstrating independence and initiative

  • Problem Solving: Handle complex issues and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff

  • Knowledge: Possess comprehensive working knowledge of the subject matter related to machinery operation and maintenance

  • Experience: 1 years+ of experience, including experience driving powered industrial equipment

  • Leadership: Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group to promote team development and efficiency

  • Certification: Powered industrial equipment certification preferred.
