Work Experience Requirements:
- Assists the Dentist in all dental procedures.
- Completes Time Out/Intake on all patients.
- Set up treatment rooms for procedures
- Greet patients and ensure patient is properly draped and ready for procedure.
- Display compassion to help patients feel comfortable
- Ensure patients’ questions are answered thoroughly before the leave
- Properly sterilizes operatories and equipment according to OSHA guidelines between patients.
- Takes X-rays; develops X-rays; mounts X-rays.
- Keeps the operatories well stocked with supplies. Orders supplies as necessary.
- Stores and keeps track of all dental laboratory cases.
- Fills out and tracks Medicaid/insurance pre-authorizations.
- Monitors the upkeep of dental equipment on a weekly basis.
- Disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations.
- Test the autoclaves on a weekly basis.
- Assists in laboratory duties.
- Wear proper protective equipment during procedures, including gloves, gown, and mask.
- Reports any equipment repair that is needed to the supervisor.
- Prepares for and acts appropriately to medical emergencies in the dental office.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of accredited dental assistant program or dental assistant experience (minimum of 1 year) in accordance with Louisiana regulations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments and infection control.
- Experience with electronic dental records is preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Licensure/Certifications:
- BLS required (American Heart Association)
- Must have Xray certification per the State Dental Board of Louisiana
