ASL Interpreter

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate ASL Interpreter / Paraprofessional to support a student who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an educational setting in Houma, Louisiana. The ideal candidate will provide communication support through American Sign Language (ASL), assist with classroom activities, and help create a positive, inclusive learning environment.

• Provide ASL interpretation and communication support between the student, teachers, staff, and peers.
• Assist the student in understanding classroom instruction, assignments, and school activities.
• Support teachers with classroom activities and instructional tasks as needed.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group academic and behavioral support.
• Reinforce classroom expectations and encourage positive student behavior.
• Assist with preparing instructional materials and adapting activities when appropriate.
• Support the student's participation in classroom, extracurricular, and school-wide activities.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, school staff, and other members of the educational team.
• Maintain student confidentiality and follow all school policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties related to student support as assigned.

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Previous experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, children, or in an educational setting is preferred.
• Paraprofessional, educational aide, interpreter, or classroom support experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, dependability, and a genuine interest in supporting students.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Additional certifications or credentials related to ASL, interpreting, or paraprofessional services are a plus.

• Full-time Monday–Friday schedule
• $20.00–$30.00/hour
