Surgical Technologist

GiaCare is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to support the Department of Otolaryngology (ENT) at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas.

This unique position combines traditional surgical technology responsibilities with specialized ENT clinical support, allowing you to work alongside surgeons and providers caring for active-duty service members, military retirees, and their families.

Schedule

• Monday-Friday
• Full-time
• Generally 6:30 AM-5:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
• No routine on-call
• Federal holidays observed
• Primary duty location at BAMC
• Occasional support at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center based on mission needs

What You'll Do

• Scrub and assist during ENT surgical procedures
• Prepare operating rooms and maintain sterile fields
• Prepare patients before surgical procedures
• Pass instruments and supplies during surgery
• Assist with minor procedures performed in the ENT clinic
• Remove sutures, staples, nasal packing, and splints
• Perform ear irrigation and cerumen removal
• Assist with wound care and dressing changes
• Collect specimens for laboratory testing
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments
• Support preoperative and postoperative patient care
• Maintain documentation within the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Surgical Technology program or military Surgical Technician training
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Current CST, TS-C, or military Surgical Technician certification
• At least one year of Surgical Technologist or Operating Room Technician experience after graduation
• Must Be U.S. Citizen (No sponsorships)
