Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our team at Haverhill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. As a Unit Clerk, you will provide clerical support at the nurse's station, including telephone communications, typing, data entry, and scheduling of resident appointments and transportation. The ideal candidate has experience with medical terminology, strong organizational skills, and the ability to read, write, and understand the English language. Unit Clerk experience in a long-term care environment is preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
Deliver new admission charts to the unit and initiate forms in preparation for admission
Fax physician's orders daily and deliver faxed printouts to the appropriate department
Complete daily transfer of vital signs and weights from the daily assignment sheet to the resident's chart
Check the supply closet near the nurse's station and request re-stocks as needed
Maintain an orderly and neat nurses' station
Screen all incoming phone calls for nursing and forward messages
Schedule appointments with physicians for residents and relay information to the nursing staff
Initiate phone calls to physicians, family members, or personnel
Input data, including daily entry of labs, new admission information on the resident's face sheet (PCC), updates, and revises resident's information daily
Notify other departments of any applicable changes
Maintain a current bathing schedule on the bath record for Certified Nurse Aides
Greet visitors, guests, customers, etc., and provide information/directions in accordance with company policies and procedures
Ensure residents and their families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere
Prepare monthly nurse aide records, monthly summaries, and file previous month's records/summaries as needed
Deliver lab reports to the appropriate nursing Unit daily and as needed
Act as Relief Receptionist when the Receptionist is on meal break, break, vacation, ill, or on a planned absence
Perform other duties as assigned or requested by Management
Job Skills:
Strong organizational ability
Ability to handle a variety of assignments with moderate complexity
Ability to interpret and apply departmental procedures
Courteous and tactful at all times
Ability to operate a computer (PointClickCare, Windows Office, etc.)
Ability to demonstrate discretion in handling confidential information (HIPAA)
