Job Description
The Maintenance Technician performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment to help minimize downtime. This role troubleshoots mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems, completes scheduled preventive maintenance, and responds quickly to production line breakdowns. The technician also supports equipment installations, changeovers, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements while maintaining accurate CMMS records. All work must follow OSHA requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, GMP/FDA requirements, tobacco manufacturing requirements, and 5S principles.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance; diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Repair and replace mechanical components such as bearings, chains, sprockets, belts, gearboxes, seals, rollers, and drive components; align motors, shafts, conveyors, and assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems; read mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Respond to production breakdowns, support changeovers and equipment startups, complete scheduled PMs, and maintain accurate CMMS maintenance records.
  • Identify root causes and reliability improvements while following OSHA, LOTO, GMP, FDA, tobacco manufacturing, and 5S requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical school or Industrial Maintenance certification preferred, with millwright or Industrial Maintenance apprenticeship a plus.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including conveyor repair, pneumatic troubleshooting, precision measuring tools, blueprint reading, mechanical assembly, preventive maintenance, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience with 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC; basic PLC knowledge preferred; CMMS experience required.
  • Valid forklift certification/license, or the ability to obtain certification through Bonded Logistics training.
  • 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred; experience with high-speed packaging equipment, servo-driven machinery, VFDs, pneumatic controls, and machine guarding is preferred.
