We are looking for a MES Systems Engineer / Manufacturing Execution System Systems Engineer to join a collaborative manufacturing environment in Torrance, California. This Long-term Contract position will focus on improving manufacturing system performance, supporting application enhancements, and helping teams use system tools effectively across production and engineering functions. The role works closely with partners in production, design engineering, quality, and supply chain to strengthen data accuracy, streamline processes, and support reliable day-to-day operations.


Responsibilities:

• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to maintain accurate system records and ensure manufacturing data is configured correctly for operational use.

• Assist with application enhancements and tailored system functionality that align with production and engineering requirements.

• Support connections between manufacturing platforms and related business systems, including enterprise and product lifecycle tools.

• Create and organize user guidance and training materials to improve adoption among engineering and manufacturing teams.

• Investigate system issues, resolve technical problems efficiently, and minimize disruption to manufacturing activities.

• Coordinate software testing, validation, and rollout activities to confirm new functions perform as expected before release.

• Contribute to structured change and release control practices for the manufacturing application and its connected systems.

• Identify system gaps and recommend practical solutions that improve usability, reliability, and process efficiency.

• Provide additional support for manufacturing process development and other advanced manufacturing initiatives as needed.

Industry & Environment

  • Manufacturing experience is required.
  • Siemens Opcenter experience is required.
  • Candidate should be comfortable working on a manufacturing floor and engaging directly with operations teams.
  • This is a manufacturing systems-focused role supporting production software and processes rather than a traditional IT support position.

Top Responsibilities

  • User administration and access management within Siemens Opcenter.
  • Password resets, user creation, and user maintenance.
  • Maintaining routings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), Bill of Processes, tools, parts, and related manufacturing data.
  • Supporting application functionality and troubleshooting.
  • Performing UAT and validation testing.
  • Testing Siemens patches and software updates to ensure successful implementation.
  • Supporting the live Opcenter environment and helping keep systems operational.
  • Assisting with future deployments and enhancements, although this position will not lead implementation efforts.

Current State of the Environment

  • Siemens Opcenter has been live for approximately three months.
  • The organization is currently operating at roughly 20% utilization of the platform.
  • The team is continuing to define processes, data structures, and new system rules as adoption expands.

Required Skills

  • Siemens Opcenter (required)
  • Python scripting (most important technical skill)
  • SQL
  • Siemens manufacturing systems experience
  • Torque tool experience (Novred/Norved)

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • UAT testing experience
  • Application support experience within manufacturing systems environments
