Payroll Clerk
Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support accurate and timely payroll operations in Nashville, Tennessee. This position plays an important role in maintaining employee pay records, reviewing timekeeping information, and helping ensure payroll is processed correctly for a large workforce. The ideal candidate brings hands-on payroll experience, strong accuracy, and a service-minded approach when assisting employees and internal teams.

Responsibilities:
• Manage payroll preparation activities to help ensure each pay cycle is completed accurately, on schedule, and with the required approvals before final submission.
• Process employee record changes, including onboarding entries, contractor setup, and separations, while keeping payroll and HR information current.
• Review timekeeping data for completeness and accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and correct issues that could affect employee pay.
• Calculate and enter payroll adjustments such as retroactive earnings, overpayment recoveries, underpayments, and other approved pay corrections.
• Record supplemental compensation items after confirming supporting authorization and verifying that entries align with payroll guidelines.
• Respond to employee questions related to pay, deductions, and accrual balances, providing clear support and resolving issues promptly.
• Prepare payroll and HR audit reports, maintain documentation, and help monitor compliance with internal payroll procedures.
• Support department timekeepers and system users by granting appropriate access and providing guidance on payroll policies and timekeeping practices.
• Administer garnishment-related entries and complete payroll actions tied to new hires and terminations as part of regular processing.
• Serve as backup support for payroll leadership and assist with timekeeping system updates, issue resolution, and other assigned duties as needed.
• Proficiency with UKG Pro required.
• At least 3 years of payroll experience, including end-to-end payroll processing responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to process payroll for a workforce of 500 or more employees.
• Experience handling garnishments, supplemental earnings, retroactive pay adjustments, and payroll corrections.
• Strong working knowledge of payroll auditing, timekeeping review, and maintaining accurate employee data.
• Solid understanding of payroll procedures, approvals, and compliance-focused documentation practices.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
