This individual will be responsible for managing the billing process, submitting claims, verifying insurance coverage, maintaining patient accounts, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance carriers. Key Responsibilities
- Submit electronic and paper claims to insurance carriers accurately and in a timely manner
- Research and resolve billing errors, claim edits, rejections, and denials
- Manage payer rebills, unbillable accounts, and billing-related work queues
- Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
- Provide patients with balance estimates and collect patient payments as needed
- Maintain and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Respond to inquiries from patients, insurance carriers, and internal departments via phone, email, and fax
- Request and obtain medical records and supporting documentation when necessary
- Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
- Identify reimbursement issues and communicate trends or concerns to management
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality, and quality standards
- Participate in team meetings and support departmental goals
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing, insurance verification, healthcare customer service, or related healthcare revenue cycle functions
- Experience with medical claims processing and insurance terminology
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent data entry, keyboarding, and computer navigation skills
- Ability to learn new systems and software quickly
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of professionalism and customer service orientation
- Bachelor's degree preferred
Pay Details: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
