A growing distribution and consumer products organization is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join its accounting team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing high-volume transactions, and collaborating across departments to ensure accurate and timely vendor payments.

The successful candidate will be organized, proactive, and comfortable leveraging technology to improve efficiency while maintaining strong financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests for completeness and compliance.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and investigate payment discrepancies.
  • Prepare and process payments via checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
  • Partner with internal departments to ensure smooth invoice approval and payment workflows.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities related to accounts payable.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment-related issues professionally.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline AP processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Stay current on accounting best practices and relevant compliance requirements.


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of accounts payable experience, preferably within a high-volume transaction environment.
  • Understanding of fundamental accounting principles and AP processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Experience working with purchasing or procurement processes is a plus.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
