LEGAL CLERK (LANTANA, FL)
FULL TIME/IN-OFFICE ROLE
JOB SUMMARY
A & Associates is seeking a professional and detail oriented Legal Clerk to support the company’s Legal Department. The Legal Clerk will work closely with In House Counsel and company leadership in connection with contracts, claims, litigation, legal research, compliance matters, and general corporate legal activities. The Legal Clerk will assist with legal document preparation, maintain organized legal files, track deadlines, gather records, conduct research, and provide administrative and substantive support to ensure legal matters are handled accurately and timely.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No direct supervisory responsibilities.
- May assist with coordinating information and documentation from employees and departments in connection with legal matters.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide administrative and clerical support to In House Counsel with claims, litigation, contracts, insurance matters, disputes, and other corporate legal matters.
- Prepare routine correspondence, notices, forms, summaries, reports, timelines, and other documents for review.
- Maintain organized legal files and track deadlines, hearings, renewals, notices, requests, and other important dates.
- Gather, organize, and maintain records and supporting documentation requested by In House Counsel, outside counsel, insurance carriers, clients, and internal departments.
- Assist with subpoenas, records requests, claims, demand letters, investigations, mediations, and other legal matters.
- Review incoming legal correspondence, identify time sensitive matters, and route documents and information to the appropriate parties.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and perform additional legal and administrative duties as assigned by In House Counsel or company leadership.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Strong organizational, time management, document management, and recordkeeping skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare professional correspondence and documents.
- Basic knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and office procedures preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and priorities and identify time sensitive matters.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently under direction and communicate professionally with employees, attorneys, insurance representatives, clients, and other outside parties.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic filing or document management systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a legal office, corporate legal department, administrative support position, or similar professional environment preferred.
- Experience with legal documents, records management, claims, contracts, insurance matters, or general administrative support preferred but not required.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, video conference, email, and in person.
- Ability to review electronic and printed documents for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry files, records, office materials, or similar items weighing up to 15 pounds.
COMPENSATION
The anticipated salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s education, qualifications, relevant experience, and other job related factors.
