Job Title: Wastewater Technician

Summary
The Wastewater Technician is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of the facility's wastewater treatment system. This position supports the Wastewater Coordinator by ensuring the wastewater treatment process operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The technician performs routine monitoring, laboratory testing, equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and process adjustments to maintain permit compliance and treatment performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Operate and monitor all wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, blowers, mixers, clarifiers, dissolved air flotation (DAF) systems, chemical feed systems, sludge handling equipment, and associated controls.
· Perform routine inspections of the wastewater treatment plant and report equipment or process abnormalities.
· Monitor wastewater flow rates, tank levels, temperatures, pressures, and treatment performance.
· Adjust chemical feed rates, polymer dosage, pH control, and biological treatment processes as directed.
· Collect wastewater samples according
· Perform routine laboratory analyses
· Perform routine maintenance on wastewater equipment.
· Lubricate equipment and replace minor components as needed.
· Clean tanks, screens, pumps, sensors, and process equipment.
· Assist Maintenance with equipment repairs and troubleshooting
· Other duties as assigned by management

Skills and Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Eligible to be enrolled into a state certified apprenticeship program.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
· Training in Confined space, chemical handling, fall prevention and forklift usage preferred.
· Proficient in Internal Legacy System, Easily Trainable
· Must be Fluent in Reading, Writing, and Understanding the English language

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Work Environment
· The majority of this position will take place in a waste pretreatment environment with approximately 10% in a standard office environment and 10% exposed to outside environment. The employee will be expected to work with general office equipment. The waste pretreatment environment is identified as frequent and harsh, exposure include:
o Odor, Heat, Cold, Wetness, Noise, Dust and Chemicals.
· Employee must be competent in the use of lab instrumentation and vibratory tools.
· Will perform work in changing heights through the use of machines, platforms, stools, and ladders.
Provisions for Vacancy
Some functions of the Wastewater Technician position are necessary to maintain regulatory compliance with various government agencies. In the instance of vacancy or absence, these responsibilities will be assumed by the Wastewater Coordinator.
