POSITION SUMMARY

The Auxiliary Programs Support Staff is a supervisory role within the Washington Montessori School Auxiliary Department. Support staff work alongside other part time staff as well as full-time school staff to ensure the well-being of students participating in After School classes and programs. This is an excellent opportunity for employees to develop leadership, teamwork, and childcare skills in a values-driven, experiential learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a member of a team of childcare professionals overseeing an afternoon nap program, as well as a dynamic after school program.

  • Provide appropriate, positive supervision of children as assigned by the Director of Auxiliary Programs

  • Report injuries and accidents in a timely manner to the Assistant Director or the Director

  • Arrive each shift at the assigned time, prepared and ready to support the day’s programming.

  • Assist the Director in creating and maintaining a prepared environment for your assigned program division.

  • Perform other supervisory, programmatic, administrative, and maintenance duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  • An understanding of positive discipline techniques.

  • A basic understanding of Montessori principles and practices.

  • Familiarity with common After School activities

Skills & Competencies

  • Group and classroom management skills.

  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification (training provided and required by the school).

  • Coaching and sports facilitation.

  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively as part of a team of professionals.

  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in a busy and sometimes unpredictable environment.

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and high energy level throughout the program period

  • Reliable transportation to and from the school each afternoon assigned to work.

  • Physical ability to participate in active games and outdoor activities, including standing, walking, running, and lifting light equipment.


WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a part-time position, with expected hours being 12-5 pm, Monday through Friday. Work is performed primarily outdoors and in program spaces on the WMS campus. Auxiliary Programs Support Staff are expected to be present and engaged for the full duration of each assigned shift. The role involves active physical participation and direct supervision of children in a dynamic, outdoor school environment.
