Pay Rate: $37.21 per hour

Your Work Will Help Power Space Exploration
As a Mechanical Technician, you'll support the manufacturing and assembly of critical spacecraft components used in satellites and other advanced aerospace systems. Working alongside engineers and manufacturing teams, you'll help fabricate, test, and refine components that play an essential role in missions that impact communications, national security, scientific discovery, and space exploration.
Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit produces spacecraft panels, precision optical structures, deployable systems, solar arrays, antenna reflectors, and other components found on virtually every U.S. satellite built over the past two decades.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will:
Fabricate and assemble mechanical components and subassemblies for larger aerospace systems
Set up and test prototype units and assemblies under operational conditions
Analyze test results and recommend modifications to improve performance and meet specifications
Support manufacturing operations by assisting engineers with setup, calibration, and production activities
Perform rework, quality testing, and inspections on parts, subassemblies, and final assemblies
Use advanced programs and systems to collect and evaluate operating data
Assist in developing methods and procedures to improve manufacturing processes
Handle and manage fragile composite materials with precision and care
Track adhesive usage, traceability, pot life, and out-time requirements
Perform bonding, preparation, and assembly of composite structures to metallic fittings
Utilize calipers, rulers, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools
Interpret manufacturing drawings, engineering schematics, and shop planning documents
Collaborate with employees across departments to support production goals
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications
We're looking for candidates who have:
High School Diploma or GED
At least 2 years of additional education and/or related manufacturing experience
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly experience
Ability to read, understand, and follow engineering drawings, schematics, and written instructions in English

Familiarity with hand tools, including:
Wrenches
Screwdrivers
Standard mechanical assembly tools
Understanding of torque concepts and proper tool usage
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods
Flexibility to work overtime and alternate schedules as production demands require
Strong initiative, adaptability, and commitment to quality
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Preferred Qualifications
Top candidates may also possess:
Experience in aerospace, satellite, composites, or advanced manufacturing environments
Knowledge of composite materials and fabrication processes
Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and manufacturing work instructions
Strong shop math and measurement skills
Experience working with ISO standards and compliance requirements

Experience operating manufacturing equipment such as:
Cranes
Rigging systems
Forklifts

Proficiency using electronic test equipment, including:
Digital Multimeters
DC Power Supplies
Source Meters
Strong multitasking and prioritization skills in a production environment
