Class A CDL Grain Truck Driver Job Summary
Kelm Grain Farms is seeking a reliable, hardworking Class A CDL Truck Driver to join our grain farming operation. This full-time position is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting grain and supporting the farm operation as needed.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a hands-on agricultural environment. In addition to grain hauling, this position may assist with light shop work and general farm-related duties when needed.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Class A driver looking for steady work in a family-oriented farming operation.
Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, with potential for additional hours depending on seasonal workload
Pay: Hourly rate negotiable based on experience
Class A CDL Grain Truck Driver Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A commercial trucks to transport grain and agricultural materials
- Transport grain between farm locations, grain facilities, elevators, and other designated destinations
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Safely load, transport, and unload grain while following proper procedures
- Maintain accurate driver logs and required transportation documentation
- Follow all applicable traffic laws, CDL requirements, and safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized truck and work area
- Communicate effectively with farm management and team members regarding transportation needs and schedules
- Assist with grain handling and other farm operations as needed
- Perform light shop work and basic maintenance or cleanup duties when needed
- Work safely around farm equipment, trucks, grain handling equipment, and other agricultural machinery
- Follow all company safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Perform other farm-related duties as assigned
Class A CDL Grain Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
- Clean driving record required
- Previous Class A truck driving experience preferred
- Experience hauling grain or working in an agricultural environment is a plus
- Ability to safely operate and maintain commercial vehicles
- Strong commitment to safety and responsible driving practices
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work additional hours during busy or seasonal periods
- Willingness to assist with light shop work and general farm duties as needed
Working Conditions
- Outdoor Environment: Work will take place primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, and other varying weather conditions.
- Physical Requirements: Position requires physical activity, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, climbing, and sitting for extended periods.
- Agricultural Environment: Employee may work around grain, farm equipment, trucks, machinery, and agricultural operations.
- Seasonal Hours: Work hours may increase during peak planting, harvesting, and grain-hauling seasons.
