Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Automotive Tire Technician to inspect, repair, replace, mount, balance, and rotate tires on passenger vehicles and light trucks. The technician will use tire-service equipment, follow shop safety procedures, maintain an organized work area, and provide professional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect tires for tread depth, uneven wear, punctures, sidewall damage, air pressure, and valve condition.
  • Mount, install, remove, rotate, and balance tires and wheels.
  • Repair eligible tire punctures and replace damaged valve stems or tire-pressure monitoring system components.
  • Recommend appropriate repairs or replacements based on vehicle specifications and tire condition.
  • Torque wheel fasteners according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform basic tire-pressure monitoring system resets and inspections.
  • Conduct pre-service and post-service inspections to confirm work quality and vehicle safety.
  • Operate tire changers, wheel balancers, lifts, jacks, air tools, and hand tools safely.
  • Explain tire condition, completed services, and maintenance recommendations clearly to customers.
  • Maintain accurate service records and assist with tire and supply inventory.
  • Keep tools, equipment, service bays, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow company policies, environmental requirements, and all applicable safety procedures.
  • Assist with basic automotive maintenance or roadside tire service when assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous tire-service or automotive-repair experience preferred; training may be provided.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of tire sizes, tread patterns, load ratings, inflation requirements, and repair standards.
  • Ability to use tire-service tools and equipment safely and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, time-management skills, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
  • Availability to work scheduled weekends, holidays, or overtime when required.

Physical and Working Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work with hands overhead for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working around vehicles, moving equipment, noise, dust, fumes, grease, and changing temperatures.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow safe lifting practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tire-industry training or certification.
  • Experience servicing passenger vehicles, SUVs, and light trucks.
  • Familiarity with tire-pressure monitoring systems.
  • Basic knowledge of brakes, suspension, and general vehicle inspections.
