HVAC Inventory Control Specialist
Job Summary
The HVAC Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing inventory levels, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring technicians and installation personnel have the materials and equipment needed to support residential and commercial HVAC operations. This position works closely with service manager, service technicians, sales staff and management to optimize inventory accuracy, reduce waste, and maintain operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Order, receive, inspect, and verify incoming HVAC equipment, parts, and materials.
- Stock and organize warehouse inventory for efficient access and retrieval.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder stock to maintain established minimum and maximum quantities.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding shortages, returns, damaged products, and warranty items.
- Prepare purchase requisitions and assist with purchasing activities as needed.
- Issue materials, tools, and equipment to service technicians and installers.
- Track serialized equipment, refrigerants, and high-value assets.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of HVAC equipment, refrigerants, and hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.
- Collaborate with operations, service, sales and installation departments to forecast inventory needs.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, and logistics as required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of inventory control, warehouse, or HVAC industry experience.
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment, components, and terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).
- Experience with HVAC distribution or mechanical contracting operations.
- Knowledge of purchasing and vendor management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Comfortable working in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.
