About the Role:
Bay Area Learning Academy is looking for a passionate and dedicated Mandarin Teacher to join our afterschool center for elementary school age students! This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young learners and make a meaningful impact by bringing language and culture to life in a fun, supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Mandarin language lessons tailored to students' age and proficiency levels
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages language acquisition and cultural appreciation
- Develop and prepare instructional materials, activities, and assessments aligned with learning objectives
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and support as needed
- Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding student development and program updates
- Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom setting
Requirements:
- Native or near-native Mandarin Chinese proficiency (spoken and written)
- Prior teaching experience, tutoring, or working with school-age children preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum materials
- Patient, enthusiastic, and culturally sensitive approach to education
- Must pass a background check as required for working with minors
