Children's STEM Instructor aka Breakologist
Job Description
WHAT WE DO
BreakologyTM is a STEM teardown lab opening in Lutz, FL where curious students ages 6–17 take real consumer electronics — and recently retired industrial and scientific equipment — apart using professional tools in a structured, safety-first environment. Keyboards, PCs, lab equipment, etc. Every device that comes through the door gets disassembled, examined, explained, and repurposed. Not simulated. The real thing, in real hands, with real tools.
THE ROLE
%CF; Facilitate 90-minute teardown sessions for student cohorts (Friday, Saturday, and Sundays only).
%CF; Manage day-to-day lab operations: device staging, component library, safety pre-screening, parent communications
%CF; Lead the Breakology tool check-in ritual, safety brief, and close protocol — every session, without exception
%CF; Document session notes, attendance, and incident logs
%CF; Manage student check-in and in-store sales
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
%CF; Comfortable with hand tools — you know the difference between a Phillips and a Torx
%CF; Genuine experience working with children or youth in an educational or enrichment setting
%CF; Organized, reliable, and calm under the controlled chaos of 20 curious kids with screwdrivers
%CF; Comfortable with the unknown — some of our devices have no label you will recognize, and that should excite you, not stop you
%CF; Clear background check required
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
- Part-time working Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays only
- $20-$25 per hour depending on qualifications
