Medical Assistant – Front & Back Office (Internal Medicine)
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join a one-physician Internal Medicine practice focused on adult primary care. It can be a part time to full-time position in a professional, patient-centered office where strong clinical skills, organization, and communication are essential.
The ideal candidate has prior experience in a primary care or internal medicine setting and is comfortable supporting both front and back office functions. This role requires hands-on clinical ability as well as experience with medical records, insurance processes, and in-office laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities
- Room patients and assist the physician during examinations
- Obtain and document vital signs and patient histories
- Perform and document EKGs
- Conduct audiometry, pulmonary function tests, and visual acuity testing
- Perform phlebotomy and assist with in-office lab procedures
- Handle, label, process, and prepare specimens for transport in accordance with protocols
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain clinical and lab supplies
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
- Verify insurance and assist with basic eligibility checks
- Manage and maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Answer phones and provide professional, courteous patient support
- Coordinate labs, referrals, and follow-up care as needed
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Previous Medical Assistant experience required; primary care or internal medicine experience preferred
- Experience working with adult patients
- Phlebotomy and specimen handling experience required
- Proficiency in EKGs, audiometry, pulmonary function testing, and visual acuity exams
- Knowledge of medical records systems and documentation standards
- Experience with insurance verification
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to multitask in a small office environment
- Comfortable working in a single-provider practice
