Job Description

Ace Staffing is currently seeking a skilled Machine Builder / Mechanical Assembly Technician for a premier manufacturing client in Apopka, FL. This role plays a critical part in the assembly, integration, and build lifecycle of custom automated machinery and large-scale industrial equipment.

In this position, you will be responsible for building high-quality mechanical systems and subassemblies from the ground up by interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with 3 to 5 years of proven, hands-on experience assembling large industrial machinery or equipment (such as commercial HVAC systems, automated machinery, or heavy industrial equipment). You will collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineers, electricians, and technicians to deliver reliable, production-ready systems.

This role supports the full machine build lifecycle, including assembly, installation, troubleshooting, and testing, ensuring all equipment meets design specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assemble custom automated machinery, large-scale industrial equipment, subassemblies, and mechanical components strictly adhering to engineering drawings, schematics, and layouts.
  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, CAD drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions independently.
  • Install and align mechanical systems, including structural frames, conveyors, pneumatics, actuators, and drive systems.
  • Perform precision mechanical fabrication, including drilling, tapping, fitting, aligning, and general assembly as needed.
  • Assist with the integration and field wiring of electrical components, including sensors, motors, and control panels.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and structural issues during assembly, testing, and system startup.
  • Support machine testing, debugging, and validation to ensure full operational functionality and safety compliance.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with engineers, electricians, and technicians to meet build specifications and project deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Provide active feedback for continuous improvement in build processes and efficiency.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in machine building, mechanical assembly, or the construction of large-scale industrial equipment (e.g., commercial HVAC units, custom automation, or heavy machinery).
  • Strong blueprint reading skills: Proven ability to independently read, interpret, and work from detailed mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Self-starter mindset: Highly self-motivated with the ability to take initiative, problem-solve on the fly, and work with minimal direction.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators), and shop equipment.
  • Solid working knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, linear motion, bearings, and drive assemblies.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components, controls, and automation systems is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, spatial reasoning, and critical troubleshooting skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to client work sites as needed.
  • Available for work on-site 5 days/week (1st or 2nd Shift availability).
  • 1st shift: 6:00-2:30pm 2nd shift: 3:00pm-11:30pm
