About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented attorney to join our team as Municipal Counsel & Litigation Attorney. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with local governments, planning boards, as well as litigation cases, offering attorneys an opportunity to actively litigate in Court.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel to municipalities, boards, and commissions on governance, compliance, and regulatory issues.
- Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other municipal documents.
- Stay current on state and local laws impacting municipal governance and land use.
- Draft complaints, answers, counterclaims, and amended pleadings.
- Prepare and argue motions.
- Draft and respond to Discovery.
- Review and produce documents.
- Manage e-discovery and document review.
- Conduct legal and factual investigations.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in New Jersey
- 2–7 years of experience in municipal law, litigation, or related practice areas.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and public presentations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Open Public Meetings Act, Open Public Records Act, and related statutes.
