Yard Hand – John Deere Dealership

Position Summary

We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Yard Hand to join our John Deere dealership team. The Yard Hand is responsible for keeping the dealership yard, equipment, trailers, and buildings organized, clean, and ready for customers. This position will work around tractors, skid steers, compact construction equipment, attachments, trailers, and other agricultural and construction equipment.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, follows directions, and is comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Move and organize tractors, skid steers, loaders, attachments, trailers, and other equipment throughout the dealership yard.
• Load and unload equipment and attachments safely.
• Assist technicians with moving equipment in and out of the service department.
• Keep equipment clean and customer-ready.
• Wash, fuel, grease, and perform basic maintenance on equipment as directed.
• Check equipment for obvious damage or issues and report concerns to management.
• Maintain an organized and clean yard, shop, parking areas, and equipment storage areas.
• Assist with equipment deliveries and pickups when needed.
• Maintain proper placement and identification of equipment and attachments.
• Help receive incoming equipment, parts, and other dealership inventory.
• Assist customers with loading and unloading equipment when appropriate.
• Operate forklifts, skid steers, tractors, loaders, and other equipment when trained and authorized.
• Assist the service and sales departments with general labor and daily tasks.
• Follow all dealership safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience around agricultural, construction, or heavy equipment preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate tractors, skid steers, loaders, forklifts, and similar equipment.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to keep equipment and work areas organized.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment-related items as required.
• Must be comfortable working outside in hot, cold, wet, and snowy conditions.

Preferred Experience

• John Deere or other agricultural equipment experience.
• Construction equipment experience.
• Trailer experience.
• CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus.
• Forklift experience.
• Experience with pressure washing, fueling, greasing, and basic equipment maintenance.
