Legal Assistant / Paralegal

Peraza Law, P.A., is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our growing bankruptcy practice in Miami, Florida. This position is ideal for a bilingual professional who is organized, client-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment.

Position Overview

The Legal Assistant / Paralegal will support attorneys with bankruptcy matters, client communication, case management, and administrative legal tasks. The ideal candidate must be fluent in both English and Spanish and possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients in English and Spanish regarding case updates, document requests, and appointments
• Prepare and organize bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and supporting documents
• Assist attorneys with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases
• Maintain electronic and physical case files
• Draft legal correspondence and general legal documents
• Coordinate appointments, court dates, and deadlines
• File documents electronically with the court (preferred experience)
• Answer phones and provide professional customer service to clients
• Follow up with clients to ensure all required documentation is received
• Support general office and administrative operations

Qualifications

• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required
• Bankruptcy experience is a plus, but not required
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and web browsers
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally
• Detail-oriented with strong time management skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with bankruptcy software and e-filing systems
• Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional and client-service-oriented demeanor
