Part-Time Interior Shade Representative

Position Summary
Cool Screens of Texas is seeking an experienced part-time Interior Shade Representative to guide residential and commercial clients through the selection, measurement, and specification of interior window shades and coverings. This is a client-facing role for someone who already knows the product category: roller and solar shades, cellular and pleated shades, Roman shades, woven woods, drapery, and motorized and smart-home control systems.
The right candidate is equally comfortable in a showroom consultation and an on-site measure, translates a client's design intent into an accurate order, and closes the sale without pressure. Approximately 10-20 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility around client appointments.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct in-showroom and in-home consultations, assessing light control, privacy, insulation, and aesthetic needs for each opening.
· Take precise window measurements for inside and outside mount applications, and document mounting conditions, obstructions, and stack requirements.
· Recommend appropriate shade types, fabrics, openness factors, liners, and hardware from current vendor lines.
· Prepare accurate quotes and written proposals, and present pricing options across good, better, and best tiers.
· Enter orders with vendors, verify specifications before release, and track lead times through delivery.
· Coordinate installation scheduling with the install team and follow up with clients after completion.
· Resolve fit, fabric, and motorization issues, and process warranty claims and remakes as needed.
· Maintain showroom displays, sample books, and pricing materials in current condition.
· Build referral relationships with interior designers, builders, and property managers in the local market.
· Log client activity, quotes, and follow-ups in and meet monthly sales targets.
Required Qualifications
· Two or more years of direct experience selling or specifying interior window shades, blinds, shutters, or drapery.
· Working knowledge of major shade manufacturers and their measurement and ordering conventions.
· Demonstrated accuracy in field measuring; understands the cost of a mis-measure.
· Comfortable presenting price and asking for the order.
· Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel within the [metro area] service territory.
· Proficiency with quoting software, email, and basic spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with motorized and automated shade systems, including [Somfy, Lutron, or comparable] programming.
· Background in interior design, staging, or a related design discipline.
· Existing relationships with designers, builders, or commercial property managers in the local market.
· Familiarity with commercial solar shade specification and glare or solar heat gain considerations.
Schedule and Compensation
· 10-20 hours per week, with some evening and Saturday appointments to accommodate client availability.
· 15% commission on written and installed business.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to safely use a step ladder and measure openings at height.
· Ability to lift and carry sample books and product samples weighing up to [30] pounds.
· Regular travel between the showroom and client sites.
