Traveling Safety Technician – Trenton, OH
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Safety Technician to support a large-scale data center project in Trenton, OH for a leading electrical contractor. This is a long-term opportunity for a safety professional with strong electrical construction safety experience and a proven background working on data center or mission-critical projects.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable traveling and working on long-term mission-critical construction projects.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $42–$50/hour
- Project Duration: 12–18 months
- Schedule: Monday–Saturday, 5:45 AM–4:45 PM
- Per Diem: $133/day, 6 days per week
- Travel Pay: None
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily safety operations on a large-scale data center construction project.
- Conduct jobsite safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Monitor electrical construction activities and ensure safe work practices.
- Monitor excavation and trenching operations, including proper protective systems and competent-person requirements.
- Monitor confined space activities and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures.
- Assist with safety orientations, toolbox talks, and employee training.
- Ensure employees and subcontractors follow OSHA, NFPA 70E, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Monitor electrical safety, PPE, lockout/tagout, excavation/trenching, and confined space procedures.
- Communicate safety expectations with field personnel, supervisors, subcontractors, and project management.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and records.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the project.
Required Qualifications
- Data center or mission-critical safety experience – REQUIRED
- Electrical construction safety experience – REQUIRED
- Excavation and trenching safety experience – REQUIRED
- Confined space safety experience – REQUIRED
- NFPA 70E certification – REQUIRED
- CPR/First Aid certification – REQUIRED
- Must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety + 1 year of safety experience
- BCSP certification + 3 years of safety experience
- 5 years of dedicated, relevant safety experience + OSHA 30
- Must be willing and able to travel and work on long-term projects.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety professional who understands the unique safety requirements of electrical construction, data centers, mission-critical projects, excavation/trenching, and confined space work. The candidate should be comfortable working extended hours, collaborating with field crews and project leadership, and traveling as needed to support project requirements.
