The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) is seeking a highly skilled, service-oriented Municipal Law Attorney to provide expert legal guidance to Kentucky cities, city officials, and other KLC members. If you are a problem solver who thrives on researching complex legal issues, delivering practical solutions, and building strong relationships, we would love to hear from you.


What You'll Do:

  • Respond daily to legal inquiries from KLC staff, member city officials, local government agencies, and other partners.
  • Research and analyze a wide variety of municipal law issues, including.
  • Assist with amicus curiae briefs in litigation impacting Kentucky cities.
  • Write and edit articles, memos, reports, and municipal law publications.
  • Prepare and deliver municipal law training and seminars to city officials, employees, and partner organizations across the commonwealth.
  • Travel statewide to provide legal guidance, training, and support.


What We Are Looking For:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Kentucky Bar, or eligibility to obtain admission within one year of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of Kentucky laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to research and communicate complex legal concepts clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in public speaking or training preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Professional, approachable demeanor with a commitment to member service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar applications.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Kentucky.
