About This Role

Needing to hire a nurturing two year old teacher to ensure that the social, emotional and educational needs of our toddlers are met. As a toddler teacher, you will be required to prepare and deliver classroom activities; communicate with supervisors, staff and parents; and ensure that the learning environment remains safe at all times. You should also be an excellent role model for the children. To be successful as a Toddler Teacher, you should be creative, imaginative, energetic, and able to encourage self-expression. Top candidates will possess a thorough understanding of early childhood development.



What You'll Do

  • Planning and delivering lessons designed to facilitate the child's social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive development.
  • Encouraging self-expression through understanding, flexibility, and behavioral reinforcement.
  • Tending to the child's basic needs by diapering them, dressing them, and facilitate with feeding them.
  • Mediating conflict between children.
  • Modeling appropriate behaviors, even when not on duty.
  • Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conductive to learning at all times.
  • Liaising with families, along with guidance from supervisory staff, to gain insight into the children's home lives.
  • Tracking and informing parents of the child's progress.
  • Attending parent and staff meetings.
  • Oversee classroom operation and maintaining/requesting supplies as needed.
  • Able to think on their fee and respond to each child's need efficiently and effectively.
  • Displaying a patient and calm personality coupled with a loving approach to every child.
  • Contributing positively to the behavior and social interaction of the children.
  • building secure relationships with the children.
  • Reporting accidents, illness, and unusual behavior of children to the Director or Assistant Director and parents.
  • Ensuring close communication with parents throughout the day should the need arise.
  • Support children with special or individual needs.
  • Notify the Director or Assistant Director and parents about potential issues.
  • Keeping classroom clean and organized.
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, team members, administration, Council members, and the communities in which we serve.
  • Responsible to keep informed of ongoing program changes and updates.
  • Adhere to Chapel Children's Center Policies and Procedures.
  • Adhere to DCYF licensing standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 30 hour CCB class
  • Completed Background check
  • CPR Certified
  • Food Handlers card
  • Prior experience working with young children, preferably within a similar setting.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens training and required DCYF trainings completed within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Warm, approachable disposition.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work during normal business hours, Monday thru Friday.
  • A passion for early childhood development.


Nice To Haves

  • 12 ECE credit hours or a willingness to get them
  • Current pediatric First Aid training.
