Essential Functions The general expectations will include, but not be limited to the following: Produce drawings for concepts, tooling, lamination, finishing, installation, and qualityCarry out Finite Element Analysis (FEA)Produce reports for summarizing the analysis results feedback to how the concept level design can be refined to improve overall performance, strength, and safetyAccelerate product development processes for meeting both internal and external customer requirementsBuild, run, and analyze FEA simulations to optimize design and adhere to internal and external quality standardsApprove drawingsDevelop presentations for internal and external purposesAssist with developing and maintaining schedules and task prioritiesProvide support to the CNC team, production, and quality departments to ensure our customers' requirements are being met Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position may supervise additional members of the design and engineering department. Work EnvironmentThis position requires time spent on the shop floor and exposure to shop elements including noise, moving parts, dust and fumes. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in noisy and dust filled spaces, climb on and around large structures, lift heavy materials, sit or stand for extended periods of time. Position Type & Expected Work HoursThis is a full-time salaried position, Monday through Friday, during normal working hours. TravelOccasional travel is expected for this position. Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering or related fieldExperience in the design of unmanned underwater vehiclesMinimum 5 years of experience in design, engineering, and/or manufacturingProficient experience with Ansys FEAProficient experience with AutoCAD, Rhino, and SolidWorks Knowledge and experience in composite production and manufacturing processes and techniquesKnowledge of composite raw materialsTechnical drawing experienceSolid computer skillsExcellent problem-solving skillsAbility to read, write, and speak English Preferred Education & ExperienceMasters Degree in Engineering or related fieldExperience in a supervisory or leadership role Knowledge of prepreg composite manufacturingKnowledge of manufacturing machines and toolsExperience with systems design and systems integrationExperience working with or on government contracts Other DutiesPlease note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
