Assistant Dietary Manager Position Summary:
The Assistant Dietary Manager supports the Dietary Manager in overseeing daily food-service operations. You will ensure the department maintains standards of excellence in food quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while providing direct leadership to the dietary team.
Responsibilities:

Operations & Leadership:
Team Support: Assist in recruiting, training, coaching, and evaluating staff; provide daily guidance to ensure a positive work environment.
Scheduling: Help develop and manage work schedules to ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
Collaboration: Work cooperatively with facility staff, physicians, consultants, and vendors to meet client expectations.
Compliance: Maintain department records regarding personnel, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance.

Food Service Management:
Quality Control: Inspect meals to ensure they meet standards for appearance, palatability, temperature, and serving times.
Production Oversight: Ensure food is prepared according to standardized recipes, production schedules, and therapeutic diet requirements.
Clinical Support: Manage the preparation and service of special nourishments and supplemental feedings.

Food Safety & Sanitation:
Safety Standards: Oversee the safe receiving, storage, and preparation of food using HACCP Guidelines.
Sanitation: Ensure staff follow proper sanitation practices and maintain equipment according to cleaning schedules.

Nutrition & Clinical Documentation:
Dietary Records: Process new diet orders and changes, keeping diet cards and residents' nutritional profiles updated.
Care Planning: Assist the Dietary Manager and Registered Dietitian (RD) in developing dietary plans and completing assigned MDS sections.
Assessment: Review and document nutritional concerns to improve client health and eating function.
General Knowledge & Skills:
Strong ability to motivate, coach, and supervise front-line personnel.
Intermediate computer skills and organizational abilities.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Familiarity with legislation and regulations influencing healthcare food-service standards.
Education & Requirements:
High School Diploma
Post-Secondary Undergraduate Education preferred, but not required.
Prior experience in healthcare food service or a supervisory role is highly desired.
