About This Role
We are seeking a loving, creative, and student-centered Grade 2 Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about childhood education, understands whole-child development, and creates an engaging, inclusive classroom where all learners thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Position Overview
The Grade 2 Teacher will be responsible for delivering instruction aligned with our AltEd Reggio Emilia inspired model, fostering a positive classroom culture, and supporting the developmental needs of 7–8.5-year-old learners. Our amazing rockstar teacher will use differentiated (Reggio focused) instruction, and hands-on learning, to ensure student growth and success, but most of all, connect with love and caring.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned for reading, writing, math, science, and social studies (we will have a skill based math teacher supporting you by teaching math to your cohort)
- Create a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment
- Use assessments to guide instruction
- Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into daily routines
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress (weekly newsletters, in person during PT Conferences, etc.)
- Collaborate with grade-level team members and specialists
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
- Support positive engagement systems and classroom expectations
Requirements
Qualifications
- Associate's/Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (nice to have, not required)
- Valid teaching certification for Elementary Education (or eligibility to obtain) highly preferred
- Experience teaching early elementary grades (or K-2) preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for child-centered, inquiry-based learning
- Commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and student well-being
Nice To Haves
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Reggio Emilia, project-based learning, or Waldorf/Montessori-inspired approaches
- Familiarity with SEL framework and pouring into our class by creating social-emotional activities
- Strong collaboration and team teaching mindset
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus, but not a must
