Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to oversee financial planning, budgeting, variance analysis, and grant accounting operations. In this role, you will analyze monthly financial trends against budgets and forecasts, manage pre- and post-award grant accounting functions, and serve as a trusted financial advisor to departmental leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Accounting & Financial Operations
- Manage comprehensive pre- and post-award grant functions, including revenue and expense analysis, financial accounting, reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare, review, and post monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger reconciliations in accordance with strict closing deadlines.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies across interdisciplinary departments.
Budgeting & Financial Planning (FP&A)
- Partner with departmental leaders during annual operating budget formulation and train new managers on corporate budget software and protocols.
- Evaluate budget submissions for logic, accuracy, and alignment with corporate assumptions, participating actively in budget planning sessions.
- Perform monthly actual-to-budget variance analyses to uncover operational efficiencies and risk areas for future budget cycles.
Reporting & Advisory
- Synthesize complex financial data into executive-ready financial statements, dashboards, and operational reports.
- Exercise independent judgment to prioritize workflows, make key financial recommendations, and complete special analytical projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education & Credentials
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Licensure: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience: 5 to 7+ years of progressive financial analysis, accounting, or FP&A experience.
- Grant Management: Hands-on experience with grant accounting, pre/post-award management, and compliance reconciliation.
- Financial Modeling: Mastery of advanced Excel/spreadsheet modeling, data manipulation, and financial software platforms.
- Variance Analysis: Proven capability to perform monthly variance reviews, budget-to-actual comparisons, and financial trend analyses.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and business communication skills with demonstrated success presenting financial insights to leadership.
