Ask any Boston builder which desk is hardest to fill right now and most will say estimating. The work keeps getting won, and the people who price it are spread thin. That makes this a good moment to be a strong estimator, and an expensive moment to stay underpaid.
Belmont Search recruits estimators across Greater Boston, project level through senior, for general contractors, construction managers and self-perform builders.
The work at the firms we represent:
- Hard-bid and negotiated pricing, conceptual budgets through GMP.
- Takeoffs you stand behind and subcontractor coverage you actually work.
- Scope review that catches the gap before it becomes a fight.
- Bid-day command, and handoffs the project team thanks you for.
GC, CM or self-perform trade backgrounds all fit here. What matters is that you price work accurately and can defend the number in a room full of operators.
Salary is $100,000 - $165,000 plus bonus. The band is wide because it covers project estimator through senior. Estimating is also the cleanest route into preconstruction leadership in this market, and the firms we work with promote from that desk.
